The Crookston Girls tennis team will be leading a tennis camp at the Crookston High School tennis courts. This will take place on August 21 and August 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This camp is for 2nd-5th grade boys and girls ONLY. Registration is $20.
Summer Arts Safari and Crookston Community Theatre will present Roald Dahl’s today, at 11:00 am. at Highland Elementary School. Adults 13 years and older are $5, children 6 to 12 are $3, and kids under 5 are free. The Crookston High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony is today at the Crookston High School Commons. Inductees are Don Amiot, Carl Hunt, Chris Peterson, Gordon Tolbert, and the 1985 Girls 1600m Relay State Champions– Christy Rongen Carlstrom, Jennifer Taus Klemens, Sara Bachmeier Robertson, and Denise Desplenter Deviney  Social hour at 1:00 pm and ceremony at 2:00 pm. Agassiz Environmental Learning Center is excited to welcome Minnesota Mycological Society educators John and Claudette Lamprecht for Magnificent Mushrooms, a free public nature education, on Sunday, August 20, at 1:00 at the Nature Center. Having more than 100 combined years as mushroom foragers, John and Claudette will share the basics of mushroom identification, some favorite Minnesota edible mushrooms and highlight four of our most dangerous mushrooms.

The North Country Food Bank is holding a produce distribution on Monday, August 21, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Crookston High School parking lot. Produce totes will be placed in the parking lot for people to take whatever they can use. Bring your own bags to pack your produce.
The Crookston Chamber of Commerce will have its Crookston Chamber End of Summer Golf Scramble! Gather your team of five golfers and hit the course for some golf, games, prizes, and fun. This will be $80 per individual or $400 per team. Event and hole sponsorships will be $100 per sponsorship. The tournament will take place on Tuesday, August 29. Registration will be at 9:00 am, with a shotgun start at 10:00 am. The tournament will be 18 holes. The Crookston Public Library is inviting readers to join its Reading by the Red book club, which invites adults of all ages to meet in the library’s beautiful River Room to discuss a variety of widely-read books. The selected title for August will be “French Braid” by Anne Tyler, with a discussion to be held Tuesday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. Anne Tyler, a master at writing about the everyday and family dynamics, tells the story of the Garrett family from the 1950’s up to the pandemic present. French Braid is available in regular and large print at the library, as well as in Ebook.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays from June through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled by the crew to take them away. Annuities or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup. Please note that leaves, grass, and other compostable material must be in the clear City of Crookston bags and will be collected on your regular garbage collection day.
