Highland School is currently looking for donations of new or gently used winter gloves. Please drop off any donations at the Highland School Office if you are interested in donating.

The Crookston Community Christmas Food Baskets Committee will not be offering nor delivering a food basket this year. However, between now through December 10, you may call between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 218-521-6320 to request a Hugo’s gift card to purchase food items. One Hugo’s gift card per family and address. Cards will be mailed out before Christmas. If you would like to make a monetary donation to this project, send your donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 598, Crookston, MN 56716. Please designate your gift payable to “Community Christmas Food Baskets.”

The Crookston Home Delivered Meals will be delivered by the Baptist Church Members and the Knights of Columbus on the week of December 5-9.

The United Way of Crookston is holding its online holiday auction with over 70 items from local businesses and friends of United Way. Bidding for items will take place from now to Friday, December 9, 8:00 p.m. All items are in hand, so you won’t have to wait for shipping, you can pick them up at the United Way office at Valley Tech Park starting Monday, December 12, at 8:00 a.m. Bring your ID when you come to pick up your items at 510 County Road 71, Crookston.

The Golden Link Senior Center will have Foot Care today from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Smear at 1:00 p.m., and a SAIL Exercise Class at 2:30 p.m.

RiverView Health is offering a CPR class tonight from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. The cost is $50 for those needing certification, and for those not needing certification, the class is free. The Crookston Eagles will have Bar BINGO tonight at 6:30 p.m. the kitchen will be serving baskets.

Beginning on Friday, December 9, the New Hope Food Shelf in the Crookston Care and Share Center will have new extended hours to reach those unable to come during Monday and Wednesday afternoons due to works schedules or other conflicts. Mondays and Wednesdays’ times will be the same from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., while Fridays will go from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Crookston Eagles will have Bar BINGO with a $500 must-go final blackout on Friday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. the kitchen will be serving baskets.

The Crookston Eagles will have a Free Eagles Children’s Christmas party with Santa on Saturday, December 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., then will have Bar BINGO with a $400 must-go final blackout at 2:00 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on 510 N Broadway. The concert will feature the Bells of Praise, the Area Women’s Chorus, and the UMC String Ensemble. Come and hear the beautiful sounds of the season. 

The Hafslo Church’s 11th Annual Christmas Concert, presented by UMC choir under the direction of George French, will be Sunday, December 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Polk County Museum in Crookston. A reception will be held in the auditorium.

Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) will be hosting their 8th Annual Christmas Bird Count on Thursday, December 15. Participants should meet at the Rydell NWR Visitor Center at 8:00 a.m. for coffee and a brief meeting. Bring binoculars and a bird book if you have them. Our Savior’s School is holding a Holiday Fruit Basket Fundraiser. Small baskets (containing 12 pieces of fruit) are $20, Medium baskets (17 pieces of fruit) are $30, and Large baskets (22 pieces of fruit) are $40. Orders must be placed by Tuesday, December 13, and will be ready for pickup/delivery on Sunday, December 18. The Crookston Driftbusters Snowmobile Safety Training field day for students 12 and older will be on January 7 at 8:00 a.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. Complete the online class before field day by going to the Minnesota DNR website, dnr.state.mn.us or snowmobilecourse.com. The cost is $24.95. The Crookston Civic Music League will have the New York City Classical music group Frisson perform in the Crookston High School Auditorium on Monday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m. as a part of their 2022-23 Entertainment Series. Concert admission is for Season Ticket holders only. Tickets cost $15 for students and $45 for adults.

Join the Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association of Minnesota in congratulating Ashley Rystad, City Clerk of Crookston on earning the designation of Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk! An awards luncheon recognizing all individuals who have achieved this designation over the last year will take place at the MCFOA Annual Conference in St. Cloud from March 22 to the 24.

The Crookston Care & Share is now accepting donations of Women’s, Men’s, and children’s coats and jackets, jeans, sweatshirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and winter gear, as well as toiletries and other common items. Donations may be dropped off at the Care and Share Center at 220 East Third Street.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only. The Crookston License Center is now offering the Class D written test for permits, new to state residents, and MN reinstatements. The test is available by appointment for a fee of $10.00. If you want to schedule an appointment, please call 218.281.5423 or email licensecenter@co.polk.mn.us.

The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All are welcome. 

The Crookston Public Library’s Reading by the Red Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the library at 6:30 p.m. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages.

The Golden Link is serving noon lunch Monday through Friday. The cost is $8. Veterans’ meals are half-price on the first Monday of the month. Call 281-3072 by 10:00 the day you plan to have lunch. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should call ahead to check the availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149.
