Buy your tickets for the Crookston Firefighters 27th Annual Fun Night Fundraiser that will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Crookston Eagles. Social is from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Prime rib or walleye dinner is served from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The live band Silverado will play from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. there will be raffles and door prizes throughout the evening. Tickets are $30 and can be bought from any firefighter. Proceeds go to the Crookston Firefighters Association.

The Crookston Home Delivered Meals will be delivered by St. Paul’s Lutheran Church the weeks of March 28th- April 1st and of April 4-8.

The Crookston High School Trivia Team will participate in a Junior High Knowledge Bowl at Thief River Falls today, at 9:45 a.m.

The Golden Link Senior Center will have Smear and Beginning Cribbage today, at 1:00 p.m., and a SAIL Exercise Class at 2:30 p.m.

The Veterans Benefits Fair will be on Friday, April 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Crookston National Guard Armory. The event is open to the public with multiple vendors giving helpful programs to veterans and veteran families.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, April 5 at 8:00 a.m. at the Polk County Government Center.

RiverView Health Auxiliary is set to host a Collective Goods Sale, (previously the Books Are Fun event). Items include books, electronics, home goods, linens and blankets, kids’ gifts and more. This sale will compliment easter basket fillers or other special occasions. The popular event is on Tuesday, April 5th and Wednesday, April 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in RiverView’s Conference Room’s, 1-3. A portion of the proceeds will go towards hospital and clinic projects to enhance patient care. Masks and social distancing will be required.

The Crookston High School invites all Senior Citizens to the Annual Senior Citizen Brunch on Thursday, April 7. A brunch will be served by the Leo Club from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. in the High School Commons. After the meal, the attendees will move to the auditorium at 9:15 a.m. to watch the three-act musical performance of “Godspell” by the Crookston High School drama students. The senior boys of Leo Club will be on Golf carts giving the senior citizens a ride to the school from the parking lot.

The University of Crookston will welcome Buddhist monk, Wongdue Sango Gurung to campus on April 11 to the 20 as he will take part in the ancient Tibetan Buddhist tradition of the creation and destruction of a sand mandala. The community and students on the UMN Crookston campus will be able to watch him create the sand mandala in person or online at https://www.kaltura.com/tiny/0s711. Join Lalo, a fun-loving shopkeeper with a magical lunchbox, and his friends as they handle unpredictable food erupting out of Lalo’s Lunchbox! Washington Elementary School will hold their Kindergarten Roundup for children who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2022, and their parents on Wednesday, April 13. Two sessions will be offered with childcare, one from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and one from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Doors will be open 15 minutes prior to each session. Enjoy time in the classroom and ride the school bus together for a full kindergarten experience. Each child will receive a free “Kindergarten Toolkit” sponsored by the Otto Bremer Foundation and the Crookston Early Childhood Summit. Parents will receive a Parent Guide to Our Kindergarten Journey.

The University of Minnesota Crookston is bringing back its “In the Spirit of Cinco de Mayo” event on Friday, April 22. The event is open to the public and free of charge, with the first tier of the celebration going from 3:00-5:30 p.m., which will feature children’s arts & crafts activities in the Bede Ballroom such as paper mâché flowers, Dia de Los Muertos items, Caquitos, and Aztec calendars, among others. A free meal will take place in the Brown Dining Room from 4:30-7:00 p.m. featuring colorful and flavorful dishes from Mexico. There will then be a dance performance by the Los Alegres Bailadores Dance Troupe at 7:00 p.m. in the Kiehle Auditorium.

The Crookston Gun Club will have its 41ST Annual Crookston Family Fun Night and Awards Banquet Friday, April 22 at the Crookston Eagles. The Crookston Early Childhood Family Education is hosting a free class “Pop in and Play” on Saturday, April 23. The class is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for ages birth to five at Washington School. The class allows parents and their children to play with equipment designed for young children in the gymnasium. Spring Clean-Up Week in Crookston is April 25th through the 29th.  Place items on your street boulevard on your regular garbage day and they should be separated into piles: garbage, clothing cardboard, appliances, furniture, metal items, demolition, yard waste and tires. Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled. Devices such as T.V.’s, computer monitors, etc. cannot be landfilled and will not be collected during clean-up. They need to be disposed of at the Transfer Station.

The 14th Annual Crookston High School Triple-A: Academics, Arts, and Athletics, Senior Recognition Banquet will be Monday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the CHS Commons. Lunch and Dinner will be included.

RiverView Health is holding virtual, monthly Type 2 Diabetes Support Group meetings the third Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages.
