The Crookston Community Pool is closed until further notice.

The Knights of Columbus will have their annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser and will accept donations that are given to benefit people with intellectual disabilities.  100% of the funds raised in Crookston go to the DAC and the ODC to assist with their programs. Look for the Knights of Columbus through May and enjoy a Tootsie Roll. Donation cans are being placed throughout participating businesses in town.

Due to equipment issues, Yard Waste & Branch Collection will be collected the week following Spring Clean-Up, May 15-19, 2023 on your regular scheduled pick-up day. Place the materials on your curbside.  Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away.  Bagged yard waste must not exceed 30 pounds per bag.

Highland Elementary School will hold the 4th-Grade Music/Orchestra Concert on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Red River Valley RSVP and the Golden Link Senior Center will hold a meet and greet on Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Golden Link. Learn more about Golden Link membership and RSVP volunteer opportunities.

The Crookston Blue Line Club will have a jersey/equipment return on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. If you plan on using your rented gear throughout the summer, please send a quick email to crookstonhockey@gmail.com to notify them.

RiverView Health is offering a CPR class Thursday from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. The cost is $50 for those needing certification, and for those not needing certification, the class is free. No walk-ins will be accepted. To register, call 218-281-9405.

The Crookston Civic Music League will have the Minneapolis-based sextet Copper Street Brass perform in the Crookston High School Auditorium on Sunday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. as a part of their 2022-23 Entertainment Series. Concert admission is for Season Ticket holders only. Tickets cost $15 for students and $45 for adults.

The Downtown Crookston Development Partnership presents Broadway at the Grand Theatre with a free showing, and concessions will be available. It will show Alice in Wonderland on Tuesday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. The show will be at the Historic Grand Theatre at 124 East 2nd Street in Crookston.

The Crookston Public School District will have no school on Monday, May 29, for Memorial Day.

The last day of school for the Crookston Public School District will be on Thursday, June 1.

Crookston Spring registration for Driver Education is open to all students currently enrolled in Crookston Public Schools.  The next session will be June 5 through the 20.  Additional registration forms for fall and winter are also available to check dates and times to determine the best time for driver education for your child.  Please return your registration to the High School Office and pay in the High School office prior to the first day of class.  All information is on the registration forms here.  If you have any questions, please contact Chris Trostad at Highland School at 218-281-5600.

CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Highland School is currently looking for donations of new or gently used winter gloves. Please drop off any donations at the Highland School Office if you are interested in donating.

The Crookston Care & Share is now accepting donations of Women’s, Men’s, and children’s coats and jackets, jeans, sweatshirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and winter gear, as well as toiletries and other common items. Donations may be dropped off at the Care and Share Center at 220 East Third Street.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only. The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All are welcome. 

The Crookston Public Library’s Reading by the Red Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at the library at 6:30 p.m. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages.

The Golden Link is serving noon lunch Monday through Friday. The cost is $8. Veterans’ meals are half-price on the first Monday of the month. Call 281-3072 by 10:00 the day you plan to have lunch. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should call ahead to check the availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149. 

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID-19 and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
