The Crookston Eagles Auxiliary will have a $12 Homemade Pie Sale. Orders will be taken from now through Friday, November 18, and pick-up times will be on Sunday, November 20, at 4:00 p.m., and Monday, November 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. at the Crookston Eagles Club at 105 S. Polk County is honoring Veterans Day on the week of November 7-13 by taking part in ‘Operation Green Light’, a new national collaborative initiative to support military veterans by shining green lights at the county buildings’ flag poles. Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends.

Rick Jensen, author and woodcarver, will be at the Golden Link today at 10:00 a.m. He will be displaying a mini collection of his woodcarvings and will be talking about his experiences with wood carving. The Crookston Public Library will host an event featuring the 1996 film, “Iwo Jima: 50 Years of Memories” tonight at 6:00 p.m. A screening of the film will be shown followed by a presentation by filmmaker Dean Henney who will share about his experience creating the film. Through the month of November, the Benedictine Living Community Crookston Mission Integration committee will sponsor a grocery and cash drive. Money donated can be dropped off at the Community business office during normal hours and will be matched by the Community. Groceries can be dropped off at either entrance of the facility. All groceries and money collected will be donated to the Crookston Care & Share for those in need.

RiverView Health Auxiliary Mitten Drive is from now through November 30. The Mitten Tree will be located in front of the Limited Addition Gift Shop.  The public is invited to “trim” the tree with their donations of new children’s winter mittens, gloves, or hats. Please no scarves. The donated items will be distributed in early December to area school children who need them.

Join the Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association of Minnesota in congratulating Ashley Rystad, City Clerk of Crookston on earning the designation of Minnesota Certified Municipal Clerk! An awards luncheon recognizing all individuals who have achieved this designation over the last year will take place at the MCFOA Annual Conference in St. Cloud, from March 22 to the 24.

The Crookston Care & Share is now accepting donations of Women’s, Men’s, and children’s coats and jackets, jeans, sweatshirts, long sleeve t-shirts, and winter gear, as well as toiletries and other common items. Donations may be dropped off at the Care and Share Center at 220 East Third Street.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only. The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet on the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All are welcome.
