The Crookston Community Theatre presents “Murder at Sunset Lodge” a play written by former Crookston resident and UMC grad, Eric Perkins. The Murder Mystery will be performed as a dinner theatre at the Crookston Eagles. The show will be presented on October 28, 29 and 30th. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the performance at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 with season ticket holders paying $13.00 for the meal. The Crookston Early Family Childhood Education will be hosting a Special Focus Class, Monday October 11, “Baby and Me” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Washington School. The class is for parents and their children ages birth to 12 months and will allow them to spend time with other families and engage in sensory and movement activities. The Crookston Eagles will have Burger Night on Monday, October 11, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  Burger prices are $6.00 and burger baskets are $7.00. Toppings include cheese, pickles, fried onions, ketchup and mustard.

The Crookston City Council will meet Monday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. inside the City Hall Council Chambers.

The Crookston American Legion will hold their October meeting on Monday, October 11th at 5 pm in the back room at Happy Joes Pizza & Ice Cream Parlor in Crookston.  All members and potential members are welcome.  Please bring a pair of children’s pajamas for ages 0 to 17 for the children of veterans receiving services at the Eagles Healing Nest.

The Crookston United Way will be having a modified drive-through event in replace of their Soup and Chili Cookoff. The event will be on October 19 at the Crookston Inn and will still feature soup, chili, cornbread, and a chocolate dessert served car side. Funds2orgs is having a Shoe Drive with all proceeds going to Care and Share in Crookston. The Shoe Drive will run from now, through November 30. The goal is to receive 2,500 pairs of shoes. Donation sites with binds in Crookston include Benedictine Living Community-The Summit, Cathedral Church, First Presbyterian Church, Wesley United Methodist Church, Hardware Hank, Hugo’s Family Marketplace, Trinity Lutheran Church and the front entrance of RiverView Health.  In Fertile at Aaron’s Grocery and in Fisher at the Cenex C-Store. The City of Crookston Fall cleanup week is October 25-29. Clean up items will be picked up only on regular garbage pickup days and must be place on the street boulevard. Compost Material, Grass Clippings, Lawn or Garden Waste WILL NOT have to be in City compost bags for this week only. The Crookston Public Library has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to offer free access to the state’s parks and recreation areas. The Minnesota State Parks Library Program offers community members the opportunity to visit any state park or recreation area in Minnesota without paying an entrance fee. The pass provides access to parks around the state for seven days and is now available at the Crookston Public Library, with two passes available per week. Passes may be reserved up to seven days in advance by calling the library at 218-281-4522. The Crookston Public Library is located at 110 North Ash Street. 

Studio 110 in Downtown Crookston will have an introduction to adobe photoshop class from 7-7:45 p.m. every Tuesday night until December 15. Cost to attend is free.

Studio 110 in Downtown Crookston will have a video making basics class from 7-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday night until December 16. Cost to attend is free.

The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All are welcome. 

Studio 110 in Downtown Crookston will have a digital kids event every Saturday beginning October 16 and going until December 11 from 1-3 p.m. Cost to attend is free.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running May through October.  Place the materials on your curbside.  Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled for the crews to take them away.  Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away.  Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup. Please note that leaves, grass, and other compostable material must be in the clear City of Crookston bags and will be collected on your regular garbage collection day.

The Golden Link is serving noon lunch Monday through Friday and Thursday evening dinner. The cost is $6. Veterans’ meals are half price on the first Monday of the month. Call 281-3072 by 10:00 the day you plan to have lunch.

The Crookston Library Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should call ahead to check the availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149. 

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19 and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
