The Fisher Robotics Team will have a Fish Fry Fundraiser on Friday, March 13 at the American Legion in Fisher from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The menu is Walleye or Jumbo Shrimp, Baked Potato or French Fries, and Colelaw for $12. All three Fisher Robotics teams competed in the state competition this season and both high school teams will compete in the National Competition in April, with one debuting the new drone program. Author Chris Ingraham made headlines when he wrote a national article declaring Red Lake County, Minnesota the “worst place to live in America”. When the community challenged him to visit their community, he flew to Minnesota for a surprising visit, and will now share the story of how, impressed by the locals’ warmth, humor and hospitality, he and his family decided to relocate to the town he had thought the worst in America. Ingraham will visit the Fertile Public Library to share the story of his family’s big move from his new book, “If You Lived Here You’d Be Home by Now”. His appearance is scheduled Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fertile Library, 101 Mill St. S. and is open to the public and is offered free of charge.

The Crookston Public Library’s ‘Families Read Every Day’ (FRED) program will be Tuesday, April 7 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and is designed to encourage families and other role models to read to their children on a daily basis. Families are invited to bring the special children in their lives, ages two to five, to the library for a fun program including an enhanced storytime followed by a special activity. This is a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten special event.
Riverview’s Childbirth Classes, a series of four 2 hour classes on four consecutive Tuesdays, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. will start on April 7. Classes will be held in Riverview’s Home Care Building, 721 S. Minnesota Street in Crookston. Classes are free for those delivering at Riverview. For those delivering elsewhere, the cost is $25. The Crookston Public Library will hold a program Tuesday, April 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. titled “Irena Sendler: Hero of WWII Polish Resistance.” Connie Hannesson, a former Crookston Elementary School teacher will give a free presentation about Polish resistance hero Irena Sendler, who is credited with saving the lives of more than 2,500 Jewish children living in the Warsaw Ghetto. By working with the Polish Resistance Movement she used a variety of methods to help children escape from being transported to the Treblinka death camp. Hear this inspiring story in an appropriate presentation for all ages.

Feed My Starving Children will pack 404,000 meals April 17-19 in the Minnkota Powers Building in Grand Forks. To do this the coordinating committee is hoping to raise $97,000. Meals can be packed for just 24 cents and all funds collected in the northern valley area go for ingredients, with local costs being absorbed personally by the volunteer committee members. Attire to Inspire Fashion Flash Fundraiser for the Villa St. Vincent and The Summit will be Friday, April 17 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Crookston National Guard Armory. Shopping with local businesses selling their fashionable, chic merchandise, and creative designs along with socializing with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with the Fashion show at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased at the Villa St. Vincent business office inside the main entrance to The Summit from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Montague’s Flower Shop, Erickson Embroidery and 2nd Street Boutique, and at Wonderful Life Foods.

JAM TIME, which stands for Jesus and Me, Together in Motion Every Day, is a new, non-denominational children’s ministry program to help kids dig into the Bible and grow their relationship with the Lord.
