The Villa St. Vincent and The Summit will celebrate “We Are Benedictine” day today with a meal for all associates and thank you gifts. 

The Golden Link will have men’s cards today at 10 a.m., and bridge club at 12 p.m. 

The City of Crookston Policy & Review Committee will meet today. 

The Crookston Public Schools Negotiations Committee will meet with Instructional Assistants today at 4:30 p.m. in the District Office. No action will be taken at this meeting. 

The Crookston Blue Line Club will have a Drive Up and Drop Off Equipment and Game Jersey’s tonight and September 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. If you have equipment that you rented from the Crookston Blue Line Club and no longer need it or it doesn’t fit your player, please drop it off during one of these days/times. If your player needs equipment for this upcoming season, please get ahold of Kristy at 470-0423 or crookstonhockey@gmail.com  to set up a time to get geared up. They will not be renting equipment out to anyone on either of these nights. If you still have your game jersey from last season, please drop it off laundered during one of these nights. If they do not get your game jersey back, or if your jersey has not been laundered, you will be sent a bill for the replacement cost and/or cleaning bill. 

Wesley United Methodist Church, 701 Eickhof Blvd in Crookston,  will have their takeout curbside Salad Lunch on Thursday, September 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

The Golden Link will have cards Thursday, September 24 at 12:45 p.m. 

The Golden Link will have a Pasta Bar Fundraiser on Thursday, September 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. they will be serving spaghetti or alfredo sauce, salad and dessert for $10. Reservations would be appreciated, call 281-3072. Proceeds will go for a new coffee maker. 

The Crookston Eagles will have Bar Bingo Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. The kitchen will have Shrimp, Chicken Strips, or Wings baskets available for $8. 

Friday, September 25 is the last day to order yearbooks for the price of $50 at Crookston High School.  

The Golden Link will have coffee and rolls Friday, September 25 at 8:30 a.m., and the “Sit, Stand, or Dance” class at 2 p.m.

A Farmers to Families Food Box pickup will be held at Crookston High School in the west parking lot on Saturday, September 26 from 9-11 a.m. or until supplies are gone. Boxes will be 20 pounds of protein and dairy. No paperwork, no income guidelines, and drive-thru pickup. Please follow all instructions when you enter, volunteers will distribute boxes to vehicles adhering to social distancing. The USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program is supported by Polk County, Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Crookston Public Schools, and North Country Food Bank. 

The Crookston Eagles will have bar bingo Saturday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. 

The The Golden Link will have biscuits and gravy Monday, September 28 at 8:30 a.m., the NAAPS pickup from 9-10 a.m., cards at 12:45 p.m., and the “Sit, Stand, or Dance” class at 2 p.m. 

The Crookston Lions will meet Monday, September 28 at noon at RBJ’s. 

The Crookston City Council will meet Monday, September 28 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The Ways & Means Committee will meet immediately following City Council. The possibility of a closed session exists with both meetings.

The Crookston High School will have a senior parent/guardian information night Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. 

The Climax Parish Food shelf will be open Thursday, October 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the back door of the Climax Library. 

The Crookston Lions will meet Monday, October 5 at noon at RBJ’s. 

The ACT Test will be administered for seniors at Crookston High School on Tuesday, October 6. 

The Polk County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 a.m. at the Polk County Transfer Station. 

Crookston Public Schools will have early dismissal Wednesday, October 7.

RiverView Health is offering a CPR class on Thursday, October 12 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. Cost is $45 for those needing certification and for those not needing certification the class is free. Due to Covid-19, class sizes are limited, no walk-ins will be allowed and face masks are required. To register, call 218-281-9405. 

Crookston Public Schools will have parent/teacher conferences Tuesday, October 13 from 4 to 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, October 14 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

There will be no school for all Crookston Public Schools Wednesday, October 14-Friday, October 16.

Safe Kids, Altru Health System and Brost Chevrolet will partner to hold a car seat checkup Thursday, October 22 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Brost Chevrolet.

Cobblestone Hotel and Suites, 2304 Sahlstrom Drive in Crookston,  will have their 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 31 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A prize will be awarded for the best decorated trunk. 

CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Golden Link has biscuits and gravy Mondays at 8 a.m. $2 for one biscuit with gravy, $3 for two biscuits with gravy, $1 for a plain biscuit. 

The Crookston Gun Club is open for trap shooting on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to dusk.

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

Grab a blanket and lunch and meet  outside the Crookston library every Wednesday for an all-ages storytime! They will read stories, sing songs, and do rhymes followed by a short activity. Social distancing is  encouraged. This event will take place during July and August. 

Trinity’s Church Office & Building in Crookston is closed to the public until further notice. Summer office hours are Tuesday thru Thursday: 8 a.m. – 12 Noon & 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 12 Noon. Not all staff members will be available on all days, some may be working from home. Please call ahead if you need assistance.  

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month running through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup.

SUMMIT tenant families and friends dropping off groceries and other items. PLEASE use the South Villa MAIN Door during business hours. If you need to make other arrangements, please call 218-281-3424.

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19, and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is offering shopping for seniors and people with illnesses from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-9 a.m. Saturdays, and Sundays during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Care and Share New Hope Food Shelf is open every Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 1:00-5:00 pm.  For more information, or to donate, call 218-277-0000.

The Crookston Times have set out newspaper vending machines outside their office at 124 S. Broadway with non-perishable unopened food items inside for kids and families in need while schools are closed. If you would like to drop off food items, feel free to bring them to their office or fill the machines. Please help keep the machines organized and let the Times know if they’re empty.

Crookston City Hall’s summer hours are in effect.  Those hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
