The Crookston Blue Line Club youth hockey report for this week is below –

Squirt A
Crookston Squirt A’s traveled to Monticello last weekend to play in the Moose Cup. They started out against Anoka on Friday evening. After a quick series of 4 Anoka goals in the first period, Crookston was able to hold Anoka at 1-1 for the remainder of the game for a final score of 1-5. Saturday morning they played Delano for a loss of 2-1. Saturday evening they played Lakeville for a 6-2 win. The boys played hard all weekend and never gave up, we are so proud of how they handled themselves against some very tough competition.
Our player of the week is Teegyn Johnson. Teegyn had a great game in the net against Delano.

10U
The 10U Girls team was off to the Breezy Point 10U Tournament this past weekend, for a fun-filled weekend both on and off the ice! This was goaltender, Logan Brekken’s, first games in the net, as the regular goaltender, Natalie Longoria, is recovering from surgery. Good job to Logan! And wishes for a speedy recovery to Natalie!
The girls kicked off the weekend play on Friday against Albertville-St. Michael, ending in a loss 2-3. Goals were made by Emma LaPlante (1) and Madi Abrams (1).
Saturday morning, they played against Stillwater, which was a tough game, ending in a loss 1-7. The lone goal was scored was by Emma LaPlante. Stillwater went on to play in the championship game and took 2nd on the weekend!
The girls had to turn around and play quickly and took on Wayzata. This was another close one, ending in a loss of 3-2. Goals scored by Emma LaPlante and Adelia Weiland.
The last game of the weekend was against Maple Grove-Osseo, and the girls dominated the play of the game. They won 6-0, and ended the weekend on a high note. Goals were scored by Emmi Trostad (1), Mya Bower (1), Adelia Weiland (1), Madi Abrams (1), and Emma LaPlante (1)
Besides the Stillwater game, their games were very close in pool play. Their weekend record doesn’t show the growth these girls are showing each game – they are improving on their positioning, passing, and persistence! Keep up the good work girls! This next weekend, the girls will attend the Grand Forks Angels 10UB Tournament, and they kick it off with their first game on Friday at 5:45 p.m.
Player of the Week – Adelia Weiland
Adelia’s positive attitude and hard work netted her two goals over the weekend. Adelia is loving the game and it shows in her play!

Peewee B
The PeeWees started the weekend with a tough 4-2 loss against Grand Forks we played hard and played pretty evenly for most of the game. Saturday we hosted Fergus Falls, I thought this was our best team game of the season, puck luck wasn’t in our favor but I thought we played well even if the scoreboard says otherwise and we lost 7-2. Sunday we went back to Grand Forks in the morning to play the Eagles and we lost another close one 2-1, we almost tied it up late on a couple of great plays by our forwards. All in all the PeeWee’s may not be where we want to be in the win/loss column of the score sheets but they have come a long way in the last month. I can see the improvement and they seem to be buying into each other and the team, I expect good things in our future.
Player of the Week: Gavin Aakhus, we couldn’t ask for a better teammate and player. Gavin comes to the rink with the mindset that he is going to work hard every day, whether it be a game or practice. He has a very high compete level and he has been all over the score sheet for us this year. Gavin is the type of kid that is impossible to root against, he is always working hard and also always has a big smile on his face. You can see that he genuinely loves hockey, keep up the great effort Gavin!

12U
The 12U girls had two tough losses this past Saturday, Warroad 5-2 and Moorhead 12-1. The girls skated hard and passed well as a team but just couldn’t get the “W”. On Sunday, the 12U traveled to longtime rival, East Grand Forks. The girls fought hard and came out on top with a 3-2 win. This upcoming weekend the 12U girls host Bemidji on Saturday and Roseau on Sunday.
Player of the Week – Brekken Tull – Brekken has been working really hard at practice, and it shows during games. Brekken always has a positive, can-do attitude!

Bantam
The Crookston Bantam’s played three games in two days over the weekend, coming out with two district wins. Friday night, the Pirates found themselves in a battle with their rival East Grand Forks, in East Grand Forks. They finished the first period with a 1-0 lead, thanks to some big saves by the goalie, Jaren Bailey. Shortly into the 2nd period, Crookston had some issues, surrendering three straight goals. Following the 3rd goal, the Pirates used their timeout to reset. Crookston’s Kaleb Armstrong responded with a goal less than a minute later. Alex Longoria knotted the game at three halfway through the 3rd period, and Armstrong got his second of the game in overtime to win it 4-3 for Pirates. Saturday morning Roseau came to town for their second district game of the weekend. The two teams exchanged goals until late in the 3rd period, when the Pirates took a two-goal lead thanks to Jackson Demarais. Roseau pulled their goalie, pressured the Pirates and pulled the game within one, but Alex Longoria added an empty-netter for his 4th goal of the game to lead the Pirates to a 6-4 victory. Saturday evening Crookston faced-off against a tough Moorhead team. Moorhead jumped out to a five-goal lead after the first period, and never looked backed. The Pirates suffered their worst loss of the season, losing 7-2 to the Spuds with goals from Nathan Kelly and Alex Longoria. Scoring for the weekend — Goals: Alex Longoria (6) Blaine Andringa (2), Kaleb Armstrong (2), Jackson Demarais (1), Nathan Kelly(1); Assists: Andringa, Demarais, Armstrong, Kelly; Goalie Saves: Jaren Bailey (133).
