CROOKSTON CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL & CLOSED MEETINGS TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY

The Crookston City Council will hold both a closed meeting and a special strategic planning meeting on Wednesday, February 17, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The closed session will be held at 5:30 p.m. to develop or consider the offer for the purchase of parcel 82.00162.02 (Bob Herkenhoff property) east of Eickhof Blvd. The strategic planning session will be held beginning at 6 p.m.

The strategic planning meeting has four main topics. The first is organization, structure, and process with sub-topics including the organizational chart, City Charter, committees and board, City Council, and liaisons versus voting members.

The second topic is the MnDOT Corridor Study proposed for the Highway 2 corridor downtown. The City Council will discuss whether they wish to proceed by engaging a consultant for the study, and if they do, will it just be for the MnDOT corridor or include City of Crookston downtown streets. They will also discuss the draft scope of work and estimates for the corridor study and downtown sidewalks.

Topic three is discussing the image of the City of Crookston and the first impression of new or visiting members of the community. As part of that discussion, they’ll discuss the atmosphere at city facilities, including the Council Chambers, City Hall, Arena, etc.

The final topic on the agenda is the future direction of the City of Crookston, including land acquisition and disposition. Each discussion topic is scheduled to last 30 minutes, with the meeting scheduled to conclude at 8 p.m.
