Crookston High School Community Projects class completes a high top table for Drafts Sports Bar and Grill.

Students in Travis Oliver’s Community Projects Class completed a new High Top Table for Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. The table was paid for by Drafts and Pirate Hot Stove Hockey.

The students working on the project were Wyatt Marsyla, Peter Weirsma, Ian Oslund, Makoti Weber, and Tony Elbinger.
The students welded a steel frame with adjustable feet. The frame and feet were welded by the students. The top of the table is black walnut, and they printed logos at Brandner Printing and also had help from Amy Boll and the Pirates Cove class at the high school.
The students poured epoxy over the top of the table to protect the logos and the table top.

Project Manager Wyatt Marsyla talked with KROX about the process. “We did basically the same process that we did with the UMC tables, except the only different thing with this one is we put the vinyl stickers on, and then we threw epoxy all over it. As in the UMC ones, we just put the vinyl on top of it, so that was a little bit different,” said Marsyla. “This was our second one, and this one definitely went a lot easier. We did a few different things with the footrests. We added two instead of one. We think that looks a little bit better.”

Marsyla added that it will be cool to eat at the table they made, “I’ll be able to walk into Drafts, and I’ll be able to sit down and eat at our table that we built. So that’s pretty cool.”
