CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS PICK UP GRADUATION CAPS & GOWNS WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, Crookston High School seniors picked up their caps & gowns for graduation in drive-thru fashion at Crookston High School.  With no school until at least May, students said they still hope they’ll get to have graduation.

Senior Gretchen Theis said it was surreal not being able to go to school and to be picking up her cap & gown for a graduation ceremony she still hopes will happen.  “It’s a little surreal,” said Theis.  “I have begun to start actually missing school, and I didn’t think that would hit me as fast as it did.  And the fact that we just picked up caps & gowns, I’m hoping graduation is still going to happen on May 22.”

Theis also said that online school was weird.  “Online school is weird,” said Theis. “I’m okay with it, but time management is a little harder.”

Senior Brady Butt said it’d been a new experience, but one everyone going through.  “It’s a new experience,” said Butt.  “If anything, we’re sort of a catalyst because we’re laying the plans if this ever does happen again, I guess.  Everyone is going through something right now, so it is what it is.”

Butt added it’s been good to spend more time with his family.  “Brooks, my brother, and I haven’t killed each other quite yet,” said Butt.  “But it’s been interesting hanging out (online) with everybody all the time.  You get to see your family a little more, which I’d say is a good thing.”

Senior Caden Osborn said it’s that even though this was expected, it’s a little hard to accept. “I can speak for a good majority of our seniors,” said Osborn.  “This is something that we all sort of expected to happen.  But now that it’s actually happening, it’s very surreal.  It’s kind of hard to take in.”

Osborn said the hardest thing right now is not seeing people daily.  “I’m dealing with everything pretty well,” said Osborn.  “Classes are fairly easy. They’re not insanely difficult.  Not being able to see people on a daily basis is very difficult, not being able to see my friends and only see them on my phone and talk to them over, you know.  It’s kind of difficult, but we’re making do.”
