CROOKSTON LEGION BASEBALL DEFEATS JAMESTOWN AT CENTRAL CASS TOURNAMENT

The Crookston American Legion Post #20 Baseball defeated Jamestown in round one of the Central Cass Tournament in Casselton by a score of 8-6.

FIRST INNING
Crookston batters were retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
The first Jamestown batter was retired before Ethan Oettle drew a one-out walk. Oettle was caught stealing, and the third Jamestown batter was retired.

SECOND INNING
The first Crookston batter was retired before Tanner Giese drew a walk. Giese would score a run on an error before the next two Crookston batters were retired.
Jamestown’s Jake Moser hit a double, and Kaiden Hakanson singled to start the inning. Hakanson was picked off at first before Moser scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1. A pitch would hit Brody Wolff before the next batter was retired. Wolf was called for runner interference, ending the inning with the game still tied at 1-1.

THIRD INNING
Crookston’s Teagen Lubinski would draw a lead-off walk before Parker Kelly singled. The next batter was retired before George Widman singled, scoring a run to retake the lead. A balk led to Kelly and Widman advancing before Alex Longoria singled to score Kelly, giving Crookston a 3-1 lead. The inning ended with two Crookston runners caught stealing.
A pitch hit Jamestown’s first batter, and the next batter reached on an error. The inning ended with Crookston turning a triple play off of a Jamestown bunt attempt to keep the game at 3-1.

FOURTH INNING
The first Crookston batter was retired. Tanner Giese doubled, and Jackson Demarais drew a walk. Giese was caught stealing, and the next Crookston batter was retired, ending the inning.
Jamestown’s first batter was retired before Bennett Goehner singled and reached second on a throwing error. The next Jamestown batter was retired before Kaiden Hakanson hit a rbi double to score a run and cut the deficit to 3-2. Brody Wolff singled before the next batter was retired to keep the game at 3-2.

FIFTH INNING
A pitch hit Lubinski before the next batter hit into a double play. The next batter was retired to end the inning.
Jamestown began the inning with singles from Hudson Rode and Zander Wolsky. The next batter was retired before Ethan Oettle drew a walk to load the bases. Bennett Goehner hit a rbi single to score Rode to tie the game at 3-3. Jamestown added three more runs to take a 6-3 lead.

SIXTH INNING
Widman started the inning with a single and advanced to second base on a ground out. Ashton Larson drew a walk, and the runners advanced on a wild pitch. Giese reached on a dropped third strike, allowing Widman to score and Larson to advance to third. Demarais hit a rbi single to bring home Larson and cut the deficit to 6-5. The next two Crookston batters were retired, ending the inning.
A pitch hit Brody Wolff to start the bottom half of the inning. Wolff was caught stealing, and the next two Jamestown batters were retired.

SEVENTH INNING
Lubinski and Parker Kelly started the inning with walks before they advanced on a wild pitch. Lucas Miller singled to score two runs to put Crookston in front 7-6. The next batter would be retired before Longoria hit a rbi double for an 8-6 lead.
Jamestown’s first two batters were retired before Ethan Oettle singled, and Bennett Goehner drew a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd. The next batter was retired, ending the game with a Crookston victory 8-6.
