The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team wrapped up its regular season home schedule with a 63-12 victory over the Roseau Rams, and a 58-22 victory over the  Badger/Greenbush-Middle River Gators in a triangular at the Crookston High School Gym tonight. Â
CROOKSTON vs ROSEAU –Â
Crookston came into the match knowing they were going to be heavy favorites as they took on an extremely young Roseau Ram team. Â Every Ram wrestler was a 7th, 8th, or 9th grader except for one junior.
Crookston won the first seven matches. Gabe Perala won the first match by forfeit. Â Evin Trudeau won the 113-pound match by a pin in the first period. Â The third match of the dual was the only match to go the full six minutes as Jaron Knutson won the 120-pound match by a 6-4 decision. Â Knutson took a 4-0 lead in the match before Roseau’s Tristan Carrizales responded with a reversal and two nearfall points to tie the match 4-4 going into the third period. Â Late in the third period, Knutson scored two points on a reversal and held on for the 6-4 victory to give the Pirates a 15-0 lead.
Crookston’s Gavyn Hlucny continued the Pirate winning ways with a pin in 51 seconds before Lucas Peral won by a forfeit. Â Casey Weiland came out strong in the 138-pound match and won by a pin in the first period. Â Ethan Bowman did the same at 145-pounds with a win by pin in the first period for a 33-0 dual lead.
Roseau finally got on the board at 152-pounds at Damian Skibicki came out strong and won by a pin in 43 seconds to bring the Rams within a 33-6 deficit.
Crookston got back on the winning track when Carter Coauette won by a pin in 10 seconds. Â The Pirates were open at 170 pounds and Roseau won its second match of the dual to get within a 39-12Â deficit.
Crookston won the final four matches by pin. Â Hunter Kresl won his 182-pound match by pin in 1:28, Hunter Kresl won by a pin in 58 seconds, Ethan Boll won by a pin in 30 seconds, and Riley Helgeson won his heavyweight match by pin in 15 seconds, and Crookston won the dual 63-12.

CROOKSTON vs BGMR –
BGMR came out strong as Keegan VonEnde won the first match of the dual by pin early in the second period. Â Crookston was gifted six points at 113 pounds as Chris Goodrich won by a forfeit to tie the dual at 6-6.
Crookston’s Evin Trudeau dominated the first period as he took a 7-0 lead with a takedown and five nearfall points over the final 30 seconds of the period. Â Trudeau added three nearfall points for a 10-0 lead early in the second period. Â Later in the period, Evin added three more nearfall points before winning by a pin with 2.2 seconds left in the period to give Crookston a 12-6 lead.
At 126 pounds, Gavyn Hlucny scored two points on a takedown early in the first period and added three nearfall points later in the period for a 5-0 lead. Â Gavyn added a takedown early in the second period for a 7-0 lead. Â Hlucny scored two points on a reversal early in the third period before picking up a pin, and Crookston led the dual 18-6.
At 132 pounds, BGMR’s Emmitt Isane took a 4-1 lead into the second period. Â Isane scored two points on a takedown midway through the second period and scored three nearfall points at the end of the period for a 9-1 lead. Â With under 20 seconds left in the third period, Isane scored two points on a takedown and added three nearfall points for a 14-1 major decision to get within an 18-10 deficit.
Casey Weiland scored the first points of the 138-pound match with a takedown and led 2-0 after the first period. Â Casey added a point on an escape before getting a takedown and took a 5-2 lead into the third period. Â 11 seconds into the third period, Weiland won the match by pin to give the Pirates a 24-10 lead.
At 145 pounds, Ethan Bowman came out strong and scored two points on a takedown early in the match. Â He added three nearfall points late in the period for a 5-0 lead after one period. There was no scoring in the second period before Bowman scored a point on an escape and followed up with a takedown for an 8-1 lead. Â Ethan would add five more points on nearfall points and won by a 13-1 major decision to give Crookston a 28-10 lead in the dual.
At 152 pounds, Crookston’s Jose Arriaga and BGMR’s Isaac Olson didn’t score a point in the first period. There wasn’t any scoring for the first minute of the second period before Olson scored two on a takedown and won by a pin. Â BGMR won the 160-pound match by a forfeit to get within a 28-22 deficit.
Crookston took any thoughts of a Gator comeback away as they won the final five matches. Â Carter Coauette won at 170 pounds by a forfeit, Hunter Knutson won by a pin in 40 seconds, Hunter Kresl won by a pin in nine seconds, Ethan Boll and Riley Helgeson both won by forfeits, and Crookston won the dual 58-22.
Crookston improves to 13-6 in duals on the year and will head to the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Invite on Friday and the Northwest Invitational in Fertile on Saturday.
