The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team wrapped up the regular season with two dual losses at the Barnesville triangular in Barnesville. Crookston and the Barnesville Trojans tied at 42-42, but Barnesville won the tie-breaker to win the dual. The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels won five of the first six matches to win the dual 45-29.
CROOKSTON vs Barnesville-
Crookston got behind right away with a loss by pin at 106 pounds but responded with three wins by pin. Evin Trudeau won by a pin in 42 seconds, Jaron Knutson won by a pin 34 seconds into the second period, and at 126 pounds, Gavyn Hlucny won by a pin in the second period for an 18-6 lead.
Crookston wasn’t able to fill 132 pounds and lost by a forfeit, and Barnesville tied the dual with a pin at 138 pounds.
Crookston regained the lead with Ethan Bowman winning by a pin in the first period, and the Pirates led 24-28. Crookston was open at 152 pounds, and Barnesville won by forfeit for a tie at 24.
Carter Coauette won his match at 160 pounds in 69 seconds, but the Pirates were open at 170 pounds, and the dual was tied at 30-30.
Hunter Knutson gave the Pirates the lead back after a win by pin in 59 seconds, but Barnesville responded with a win by pin at 195 pounds, and it was tied at 36-36.
Ethan Boll won by a pin in the third period to give the Pirates a 42-36 lead going into the final match of the dual. Barnesville won the final match by a pin to tie the dual at 42-42. The dual winner had to be decided by tie-breaker, and since Crookston had three forfeits, Barnesville won the match for a big Section 8A dual victory.

CROOKSTON vs DGF –
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton took a big lead to start the dual as they won five of the first six matches. The lone win came from Evin Trudeau at 113 pounds with a 10-0 major decision, and the Rebels led 27-4.
Crookston’s Ethan Bowman stopped the run with a win by pin in the second period. Crookston was open at 152 pounds, Carter Coauette gave Crookston four team points with an impressive 20-7 major decision. Crookston was open again at 170 and 182 pounds, and Barnesville led 45-14 with three matches remaining. Crookston’s Hunter Knutson won a thriller at 195 pounds when he scored an escape in the third period for a 1-0 victory. The win was the 100th of Hunter’s career.
Ethan Boll won his match by pin in the first period, and Riley Helgeson won the heavyweight match by pin, and Diwlroth-Glyndon-Felton won the dual 45-29.
Crookston ends the regular season with a 13-8 dual record and will be the fourth or fifth seed in the Section 8A team wrestling tournament that starts on Tuesday, February 14.
