CROOKSTON VISITOR’S BUREAU ELECTS OFFICERS, WRAPPING UP PREPARATION OF VISITOR’S GUIDES

The Crookston Visitor’s Bureau Board met Thursday electing new officers and reviewing the work that has gone into the nearly completed Crookston Visitor’s Guide.

Nell DeBoer was re-elected as chair and said the board will have a couple of new officers. “We elected new officers, and some have stayed in their roles,” said DeBoer. “I have been elected as the chair. Our vice-chair is now Cory Dallager. He’s the manager/owner of AmericInn in town. The secretary is Bob Magsam and the treasurer remains Jess Bengston.”

DeBoer said the visitor’s guide the CVB has been working on is nearly ready for printing, and the development of a website is also progressing. “Visitor’s Guide is coming together very well,” said DeBoer. “We just have a couple of eyes we want to have look it over and see what their thoughts are on it. It’s very nice, 20 pages long, and time for an update as it hasn’t been updated for about four years. We want to get this out asap to hotels and hope they’re going to put one in each room. This was our first big hurdle. The second hurdle is the website, and a lot of that information will transfer over to our website and a pdf of the visitor’s guide will be available on the website.”

The CVB also set up a committee to get new “Welcome to Crookston” signs at the entrances to the community. “We’ve got a group started that is going to look at updating the Welcome to Crookston entrance signs,” said DeBoer. “I was privy to being on the group that redid those signs and it’s been about 20 years since they’ve been redone. They are wooden signs, so they don’t hold up as well. We are working with CHEDA, the Downtown Crookston Development Partnership, and also, the trades class at Crookston High School. Greg Garmen and Travis Oliver will be working on it with Travis working on the design for the sign. Just some ideas right now as there are a lot of hoops we have to go through for that but just looking at ideas and getting the ball rolling on this, so that hopefully this summer we can have some new signs.”
