E.C.F.E. TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF HELPING FAMILIES NATION-WIDE

The Minnesota Association for Family and Early Education (M.N.A.F.E.E.), the leading advocate for parent and early childhood education in Minnesota, proudly announces the commemoration of the state’s 50th anniversary of Early Childhood Family Education (E.C.F.E.).

Since its inception in 1974, E.C.F.E. has been a cornerstone of parenting education programs, offering invaluable support to Minnesota families with children aged from birth to kindergarten entrance. Operating primarily through Minnesota public school districts in collaboration with community partners, E.C.F.E. provides many learning opportunities, including classes held at school or community locations, home visits, online parenting education, and support/resource information.

Michelle Berscheid, M.N.A.F.E.E. Board of Directors Chair, shared, “At its core, E.C.F.E. recognizes that parents are a child’s first and enduring teachers. This unique Minnesota-based educational program, supported by legislative backing, aims to equip parents and caregivers with the resources, community connections, and knowledge to guide and nurture healthy growth and development in their children.” “As E.C.F.E. celebrates its 50th anniversary”, Berscheid continued, “M.N.A.F.E.E. reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and excellence in parent and early childhood education. Embracing emerging research and fostering collaboration, we are dedicated to advancing the mission of E.C.F.E. and ensuring its continued success well into the future.”

To mark this significant milestone, M.N.A.F.E.E. invites partners, school districts, and families across Minnesota to join us in celebratory events throughout the year. The festivities will commence with a kick-off celebration at the M.N.A.F.E.E. Annual Conference at the River’s Edge Conver’s Center in St. Cloud, MN, on April 11 at noon.

During this special event, the governor’s office sent a proclamation honoring E.C.F.E.’s 50 years of service, which was a piece of advice across the state. It will be recognized for its innovative programming and lifelong achievements, and attendees will enjoy an exceptional performance by the beloved Teddy Bear Bawhich, who has crafted a commemorative song for the occasion.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the event will be available on M.N.A.F.E.E.’s websiteMNAFEE’s.org/ECFE50thAnniversary).
