EAST GRAND FORKS INSTALLS ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER WITH HELP FROM MMPA

The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) partnered with the City of East Grand Forks to install a new two-car Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger in the city. The EV charger is in the city-owned parking lot behind the River Cinema.

MMPA is a wholesale electric supplier with twelve members including East Grand Forks. East Grand Forks purchases a portion of its electricity from MMPA. One of the Agency’s core values is to create value for its member communities. This project adds an amenity to the community that will attract visitors and support local businesses. This project also supports the growth of the electric vehicle charging network and the evolution of electric vehicles.

“The city is excited to have its first EV charger,” said Keith Mykleseth, General Manager, East Grand Forks Water & Light. “It will be nice to have a location where people can charge their electric vehicles while spending time in our community. This charging station is only the beginning. We’ll be seeing additional EV charging stations in our community over the next couple of years.”

EnelX JuiceBox Level 2, dual port, 48-amp chargers were selected for the project. Two vehicles can recharge at one time at the full rated capacity. The charger is compatible with most EVs and allows for payment by credit card at the device or through an app.
