The Minnesota Vikings debuted their new home for training camp, the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center to their radio affiliates on Thursday, August 2 in Eagan. The state-of-the-art facility boasts a 6,900 square foot cafeteria along with 8,000 square feet of training space including 10 treatment tables, an electronic cryotherapy room, and a hydrotherapy room. Of course, there is no shortage of iron in the 6,100 square feet providing no shortage of space in the weight room and last but not least the Vikings will have no trouble finding green grass or turf in their new facility which has both an indoor and outdoor turf field, with the outdoor turf field located within a permanent stadium equipped with a full press box and luxury boxes as well. The morning walk-through took place in this new mini-stadium before the players strapped on the pads for the afternoon and venturing to the four, natural-grass fields on the opposite side of the facility for their afternoon practice. The biggest takeaway from radio-affiliates day at Vikings’ training camp had nothing to do with the players on the field. TCO Performance Center is nearly unparalleled in terms of training facilities designed to improve teams in every facet on and off the field. While nostalgia will always leave die-hard Vikings’ fans yearning for a return to Mankato for the preseason, you won’t hear any players requesting a return to dorms and a college cafeteria.
The Vikings, led by new quarterback Kirk Cousins, take the field for the first time this season on Saturday, August 11 opening the preseason in Denver against the Broncos at 8 p.m. a game you can hear on KROX.
