PIRATE WRESTLERS FALL TO GRAND FORKS CENTRAL AND RED RIVER

The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team traveled to Grand Forks and lost duals to Grand Forks Red River 36-24 and Grand Forks Red River.

CROOKSTON VS GRAND FORKS RED RIVER –
Crookston would take on Grand Forks Red River in the first match of the night, and the Pirates would lose 36-24
In the 107-pound match, Mauricio Arriaga took on Liam Wadlow. Arriaga would get the pin in the 3rd period at 5:56 to give the Pirates a 6-0 lead.
Gabe Perala took on Brody Ray at 114 pounds. Ray would get a second-period pin to tie the match at six apiece. The 121 and 127-pound matches were double forfeits, and the Pirates forfeited the 133-pound match, which gave Red River a 12-6 lead. In the 139-pound match, Gavyn Hlucny took on Grant Sorum, and Hlucny would get a first-period pin at 1:41 to tie the match at 12. After a double forfeit at 145 pounds, Lucas Perala took on Max Martens in the 152-pound match; Martens would get the first-period pin to put Grand Forks Red River up 18-12. At 160 pounds, Jose Arriaga would take on Noah Brandvold, and Brandvold would win with a third-period pin to put Grand Forks Red River up 24-12. At 172 pounds, Carter Coauette would get a hook on Quin Rerick in 28 seconds to make it 24-18 Grand Forks Red River. In the 189-pound match, Isaiah Reyes took on John Bierke, and Bierke would get at first-period pin to give Grand Forks Red River a 30-18 lead. Brody Bohm would get a forfeit win at 215 pounds to provide Grand Forks Red River a 36-18 lead.  Riley Helgeson took on Ryan Ward at heavyweight and Helgeson would get a first-period pin in 41 seconds.  Grand Forks Red River would win 36-24.

Crookston drops to 2-4 on the season.

CROOKSTON vs GRAND FORKS CENTRAL –
Grand Forks Central would pick up a 63-12 victory over Crookston in the Pirates second match of the night. 

In the first match at 107 pounds, Mauricio Arriaga took on Grand Forks Central’s Rhys Safratowick who would get the pin late in the 3rd period at 5:31 to grab the first points of the match. Gabe Perala would take on Gabriel Flores III at 114 pounds and Flores III would get the pin in the first period to put Grand Forks Central up 12-0. The next three matches at 121, 127 and 133 were forfeits and Grand Forks Central would expand their lead to 30-0. Gavyn Hlucny took on Steven Salberg at 139 pounds and Hlucny would get Crookston’s first win of the match with a pin in 15 seconds. The 145 match was a forfeit to put Grand Forks Central up 36-6. At 152 pounds, Lucas Perala and Michael Norman faced off and Norman would get a pin in the second period at 3:39 to put Grand Forks Central up 42-6. At 160 pounds, Jose Arriaga went against Landon Petron and Petron would get the pin in the first period to give Grand Forks Central a 48-6 lead. Miles Corniellie and Ryden Torgerson battled at 172 pounds, and Torgerson would get a second period pin to give Grand Forks Central a 54-6 lead. At 189 pounds, Carter Coauette would pin Leo Knutson in 47 seconds to make it 54-12. Isaiah Reyes took on Manuel Borges Leal at 215 pounds and Borges Leal won with a first period pin to put Grand Forks Central up 60-12. In the 285 pound match, Riley Helgeson took on Erle Stouder in a back and forth match, but Stouder would win 7-4 to secure three points and give Grand Forks Central a 63-12 win. 

Crookston drops to 2-5 on the season and will host the Rod Olson Invitational on Saturday.
