POLK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET TUESDAY

The Polk County Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Polk County Government Center.  Following the completion of their regular business, the commissioners will take a recess to travel to Grand Forks for a joint meeting with the Grand Forks County Board to discuss the Merrifield Bridge Option at 3:00 p.m. at the Grand Forks Courthouse.

The consent agenda includes approving the minutes for meetings on July 2, July 16 and July 23, approving two payments to Hewlett Packard totaling $1,443.97, approving the payment of a lost warrant to Kustom Kollision LLC for $10,728.85, and approving a payment to Stone’s Mobile Radio, Inc., in Grand Forks for $23,082.75.

The commissioners will have two resolutions to accept donations.  First, a donation to the sheriff’s office from the Polk County AGR’L Fair Association.  The second to Polk County Coordinated Victim Services from Little Norway WELCA, in Fertile. 

Planning and Zoning Administrator Jacob Snyder will present the commissioners a resolution for a five-year interim use permit for the operation of a hot mix asphalt plant and contractors’ yard for Knife River Materials.  He will also present a conditional use permit for Scott Anderson to hoop a septic system to an accessory structure on a non-riparian lot along Union Lake.   The commissioners will also be asked to approve three Low Income Septic Fix-Up Grants for septic systems that are deemed an imminent public health threat. 

The board will be asked to approve the purchase of a one-year license for the Vanguard Income Approach module for $4,600, which will assist in determining the valuation for commercial properties.  The board will discuss the direction they want to take in finding a new auditor for the county and receive a report on the government center elevator.
They will also be asked to approve an amended contract with DEED for the SNAP Program, receive an update on the 2020 budget process and prep for their joint meeting with Grand Forks County.
