WAYS & MEANS COMMITTEE TO MEET MONDAY NIGHT

A Ways & Means Committee meeting will be held immediately following the city council meeting.  The Ways & Means Committee meeting agenda includes the approval of the February 20 meeting report and the purchase of a squad car.  The staff recommendation is to purchase a Ford Expedition from Christian Brothers Ford for $35,895.00.

The second item on the agenda is a donation request for a surplus IT network service cabinet to the Crookston Youth Foundation for The Cove.  The committee will also consider an appointment to the Planning Commission to replace Joe Kresl who was recommended to fill the vacant Ward 5 City Council seat.  The recommendation is to appoint Jennifer Tate, whom Stainbrook spoke to, and she indicated she was willing to fill Kresl’s unexpired term.

The committee will discuss a request from American Crystal Sugar to detach a portion of the company’s property containing the guard shack, parking lot, and a storage silo from the City of Crookston to be annexed into Lowell Township.  If approved, the detachment request will be sent to the State of Minnesota Municipal Boundary’s Adjustment Unit with a resolution from the city supporting the detachment, a resolution from Lowell Township accepting the detachment, and a resolution of approval from both entities.

The committee will also review proposed changes to the Agreement for Administrative Services For Convention and Visitors Bureau that were revised in a meeting between the Terri Heggie, Crookston Chamber Executive Director, Lance Norman, Chamber Board Chair, Janessa Quanrd, Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Board Chair, Stainbrook, and Angel Weasner, Interim City Administrator.

The meeting will end with a closed session for negotiations discussions pursuant to the MN Government Data Practices Act, specifically MN Statute 13D.03, Subd. 1 (b).
