CROOKSTON PIRATE WRESTLING BEATS BEAT HILLSBORO/CENTRAL VALLEY, TAKES ON W. FARGO

The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team came out strong and beat winless Hillsboro/Central Valley 48-24 in the first dual of the Crookston Triangular.  They will be taking on West Fargo around 8:00 p.m.

CROOKSTON VS HILLSBORO/CENTRAL VALLEY –
Mauricio Arriaga opened the match with a forfeit, and Crookston took a 6-0 lead.  Chris Goodrich followed up with an exciting, hard-fought 6-5 victory at 113 pounds for a 9-0 lead.  The Burros won the next two matches by 4-3 and 6-4 decisions to get within a 9-6 deficit.  Crookston’s Lucas Perala won his match at 132 pounds by a pin with eight seconds left for a 15-6 lead.
At 138 pounds, Casey Weiland physically dominated his match and took a 2-0 lead into the second period.  He continued the domination, and the only points he gave up were on escapes that Casey allowed as he won 7-2 to give the Pirates an 18-6 lead through six matches complete.
At 145 pounds, Ethan Bowman was looking to avenge a loss earlier this season to Hillsboro/Central Valley’s Henry Nelson (who was 17-1 on the year).  Ethan trailed 2-0 after the first period, but Ethan had a tremendous move to put Nelson on his back and won by a pin for the 75th victory by pin in his career.
The Burros bounced back with a pin at 152 pounds before Crookston’s Carter Coauette came out and dominated his match from the start and won by a pin with 20 seconds left in the first period.
Crookston was open at 170, and 182 pounds, and the Burros got within a 30-24 deficit with three matches remaining.
Hunter Knutson came out strong and dominated his match from the beginning and won by a pin 22 seconds into the second period.  Ethan Boll won by a forfeit, and Hunter Kresl finished the dual off with a win by pin in the second period for a 48-24 victory.
