Ada-Borup/NCW Sweep Pirate Volleyball

The Crookston Pirate Volleyball team faced one of their toughest opponents of the year and started strong, but came up short in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-9) loss to the Ada-Borup/Norman County West Cougars in a match played at the Crookston High School gymnasium.
The first set was a competitive one and Ada-Borup/NCW was able to outlast Crookston for a 25-21 victory.  “We came out excited and played amazing,” said Pirate Coach Ashley Stopa. “We were communicating well and playing hard and with a lot of intensity.  We might have caught them off guard a little bit.”
In the second and third set, Ada-Borup/NCW flexed their muscles a bit and won the second set 25-14 and cruised in the third set 25-9 to win the match 3-0.  “I think we were so excited from the first game and haven’t won a second game yet this year.  We had some communication errors and Ada-Borup started playing pretty well, so it was a combination of things in the last two games,” said Stopa.  “I was very proud of the girls and if we could have kept the intensity up from the first game we would have gone more than three.  Our senior captains played well and led the team so that was nice to see.”
Crookston drops to 1-2 on the year and will travel to Red Lake Falls on Tuesday.  Ada-Borup/NCW improves to 3-0 on the year with all three victories in three sets.
