CROOKSTON GOLDEN LINK HOLDING HOMEMADE PIZZA FUNDRAISER ON SATURDAY AND BRINGING BACK THURSDAY EVENING MEALS

The Golden Link Senior Center in Crookston is holding another fundraiser to help raise funds for the Center to purchase items and certain necessities by selling homemade pizzas on Saturday, March 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All this week and on Saturday, the Golden Link Senior Center is making various homemade pizzas with multiple toppings, additions, and sizes to order. Customers can order a 7” individual pizza or a 10” small pizza they can enjoy at the Center or take out.
“They can come and eat in here. We’ll have a waitress to give it to them. They can take it out baked or unbaked to bake themselves later, however, they want,” said Head Cook and Treasurer Shirley Nielsen. “We have a variety of ingredients on top, and everything is homemade. I made the crusts already, the sauce will be homemade, so everything is homemade for this fundraiser. They can take it unbaked and home with them to add more stuff to it that we don’t have. They can take a cheese pizza home and add to it. And they will freeze!”
The pizzas will have a variety of types that customers can order, such as cheese, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, hamburger, supreme (pepperoni, sausage, olives, onion, and green peppers), or a variety of any of those toppings with various prices ranging from $3 to $7 for individual sizes, and $4 to $9 for small sizes. Customers can also order additional toppings such as cheese, green peppers, black and green olives, mushrooms, and onions for $.25 to $.75. Like the Valentine’s Day Cookie sale, all of the funds the Golden Link receives will be used to purchase certain necessities to help the Center run smoothly, such as items in the kitchen, food inventory, and office equipment.

Along with the fundraiser, the Golden Link is bringing back its evening meals every second and fourth Thursday of every month, starting Thursday, March 9, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
“On Thursday night, we’ll start our evening meals again this Thursday with the famous liver and onions or Salisbury steak on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month,” said Nielsen. “It’s a $10 meal, but included in that is the salad bar, your meat, your potatoes, vegetable, and a dessert.”
For the second meal on Thursday, the Center will have shrimp and chicken breast. Every month, the Center will have new items available for the dinner that you can see in the Golden Link’s newsletter, their website, and KROX. If you plan to come for the evening meal, the Center requests that you call them by 3:00 p.m. with your order on that Thursday to let them know how much they have to make.

The Golden Link encourages you to come and get your pizzas quickly on Saturday as they only have 54 individual pizzas and 36 small pizzas available and are not taking any pre-orders. If you would like to volunteer for the event or to the Center or reserve your spot for the Thursday evening meals, you can call the Golden Link Senior Center at 218-281-3072.
