CROOKSTON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET ON MONDAY AT 5:00 P.M.

The Crookston School Board will meet on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Crookston High School Orchestra/Choir room.

The agenda will include the approval for a leave of absence request from fourth grade teacher at Highland Elementary School, Jayne Nesvig. It will also include the approval of a resolution relating to the proposed property tax abatement for the parking lot construction at the Multi-Use complex and reconstruction projects. It will also approve the agreement with USI Consulting Group, Inc. (earlier known as Hildi, Inc.) and the agreement with National Insurance Services for benefits consulting for non-certified for 2024-25. The agenda will also include the approval of summer programming for Summer Band and Summer Orchestra.

The board will also look to approve the second reading of policies as recommended by the MSBA (Minnesota School Board Association). The policies include-

  • Harassment and Violence
  • Drug, Alcohol, and Cannabis testing
  • Student Discipline
  • Corporal Punishment and Prone Restraint
  • Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records
  • Title IX Sex Nondiscrimination Policy

The board will also look to approve the first reading of Policy 425-Staff Development and Mentoring. The final items on the agenda will include the approval of the District Calendar for 2024-25 and the approval to discontinue the Girl’s Swimming Program.

The consent agenda will include the acceptance of resignations from Washington School Principal Denice Oliver, Head Boy Basketball Coach Greg Garmen, Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Jason Tangquist, Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Lon Boike, Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Austin O’Hare, Crookston High School Science Teacher Brett Brenden, Crookston High School Paraprofessional Kathy Borkowski, and Crookston High School Social Studies Teacher and Head Girl’s Basketball Coach Darin Zimmerman.

The consent agenda will also include the acceptance of grants and donations, which include-

  • A donation from the United Way of Crookston in the amount of $2,500 for the Summer Food Service Program
  • A donation from the Crookston Youth Basketball Association (CYBA) in the amount of $4,000 for the Boy’s and Girl’s Varsity Basketball Programs
  • A donation from Kirk and Amy Luckow in the amount of $1,000 for field trips for the Junior High
  • A donation from Kathie Barns in the amount of $300 for field trips for the Junior High

The final items on the consent agenda will include the approval of minutes from the March 25 meeting and the approval of bills and disbursement in the amount of $883,194.49.
