NEW TEACHERS AT WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Crookston Public Schools District has many new faces joining its staff for the 2021-2022 school year. KROX will introduce you to the new teachers and assistants throughout the week. Here is an introduction to all the new teachers at Washington Elementary School.

ADRIANNE WINGER

Adrianne Winger is a familiar face in the Crookston School District, as she graduated from it in 1994 and went to the University of Minnesota Crookston and the University of North Dakota to receive a degree in Vocal Music Education and a certification for Instrumental Education. Then for 16 years, she worked in the Climax School District as their Pre-K through 12 band and choir music teacher, pep band instructor, drama instructor, student council advisor, and as a long-term substitute teacher for the Crookston and Cathedral School Districts. For the past 12 years, she worked as a member of the Crookston School board but has since dropped her filing for reelection to the board and now works as the Kindergarten Teacher of the 5th section of Kindergarten at Washington. “I’ve been a board member for 12 years in the Crookston District, and I had re-filed to be on the board for the next upcoming year, and I just needed a change, get home, and be more in Crookston, and I’ve been waiting to help out the school as a teacher, and this is my time to do that,” said Winger. Winger is still serving on the school board until the end of the year but is looking forward to not wearing as many hats as she did in Climax.

Winger is very excited to be working with the students as she believes that kindergarten is an amazing time in these students’ lives and embrace the many ways of learning, meeting their fellow peers, and what they’ll learn.

KATIE SCOTT

Katie Scott is the new School Readiness Teacher at Washington Elementary School. She grew up and graduated from Red Lake Falls in 2013 and graduated college with an Early Childhood Education Degree at the Northland Community and Technical College. Before coming to Washington, she worked as a part of the Heads-up Program in Crookston for four years before coming to work at Washington. “I think I needed a change of scenery. I love Head Start. It’s a great program. I think I was ready to grow and get some more experience and see what else is out there,” said Scott.

Scott officially begins her work at the school on Monday, September 12. She’s ready to meet and learn from a new group of kids, meet the other teachers in the school, and have new experiences here.
