The Crookston Pirate Baseball team was no-hit in a 15-0 loss to the Fergus Falls Otters in five innings in a game played in Fergus Falls.
FIRST INNING
Crookston had a good start to the game when Lucas Miller walked, but the next three batters struck out.
Fergus Falls started the bottom of the inning with a double. After a strikeout, they singled before the next two batters were retired.
SECOND INNING
Crookston went down in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts.
Crookston’s defense struggled in the inning, with the leadoff batter reaching on an error. After a single, the next Otter reached on an error to load the bases. A run scored on a passed ball. After a strikeout, a double knocked in two more runs. The next batter reached on another Pirate error, and a run scored for a 4-0 lead. A single knocked in another run, and two runs scored on a ground out, and Fergus Falls led 7-0.
THIRD INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion with three strikeouts.
Crookston’s defense struggled again in the third inning, with the first Fergus Falls batter reaching on an error. After a single, the next batter reached on an error, and two runs scored for a 9-0 lead. After a flyout, the next batter singled, and another was hit by a pitch before the next batter reached on another Pirate error, and a run scored. The next batter singled to score two more runs. After out, three more runs scored on two singles to give Fergus Falls a 15-0 lead.
FOURTH INNING
Crookston’s Jay Reese led off the inning with a walk before two outs. Melsa walked before a ground out.
Fergus Falls leadoff batter struck out. The next batter was hit by a pitch, and after a walk, the next two batters were retired.
FIFTH INNING
Crookston was retired in 1-2-3 fashion by three strikeouts, and Fergus Falls won the game 15-0 due to the 10-run rule.
