Congratulations to the Thief River Falls Prowlers Boys Tennis team on winning the Section 8A championship again. They are the first spring sports team to make it to state. Softball has one day of games, with half the teams eliminated. The championships will be held next week. Track will have sub-sections this Thursday, and the section meet next Friday. Baseball has the first round of the tournament on Tuesday. Things are busy and golf starts with the sub-section next week as well!

Best of luck to all teams. Also congratulations to the Class of 2023 graduates and best of luck in the future. If you are going to college – go to class every day and you will do fine!

After 28 years as head Perham Yellowjacket Boys Basketball coach, Dave Cresap has announced his resignation. Cresap announced his retirement a few weeks ago and announced this week that he is stepping down to take the job as the new Men’s Basketball Head Coach at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls.
Cresap, a Minnesota Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame member, had a record of 666-298 and won a state championship in 2011.
Congratulations to Coach Cresap, and best of luck at Fergus Falls. There are a lot of Section 8AA basketball coaches that are “happy” about his new venture.

Bemidji State Freshman Rylin Petry (Fertile-Beltrami High School) added another accolade to his terrific year on Thursday when he was selected to the PING/Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Region Team. In the process, he becomes the first golfer from Bemidji State to earn the award.

Petry adds his All-Region honor after being selected to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team and All-NSIC Tournament Team accolades earlier this season.
Petry put together a freshman season to remember. Once the calendar turned to spring, Petry finished in the top-five in all six tournaments leading up to the NCAA Super Regional. He posted a pair of top-two results, as he also came in runner-up in a loaded regional event at The Mule in early April. Petry led the Beavers and the NSIC with a regular season stroke average of 72.7. He finished at 73.0 following regionals and 30 total rounds. He compiled four rounds under 70 during the season, hitting 67 at The Mule and 69 three times at three different tournaments. Petry was named NSIC Golfer of the Week twice, and in the final regular season GolfStat rankings, he was in the top 100 nationally, coming in 92nd.

Petry was one of just two golfers to be named to the All-Region Team from the NSIC joining Concordia-St. Paul’s Brandon Sperling.

JOKES

Only in America … do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America … do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America … do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America … do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America … do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America … do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER …. Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why can’t women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don’t you ever see the headline ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?

Why is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dish washing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the entire plane out of that stuff?

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro… is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
