CROOKSTON LEGION BASEBALL DEFEATS FERTILE IN DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Fertile Legion Post #238 started off strong, but the Crookston Legion Post #20 Baseball team would ultimately win 2-1 in a loser-out game in the District Tournament at Tony Stukel Field in Warroad.

FIRST INNING
Fertile began the game with a pair of walks from Bryer Strem and Steven Sather before the next batter was retired. Tysen Stuhaug singled and an error allowed a run to score. The next two batters were retired ending the half-inning with Fertile taking a 1-0 lead.
The first Crookston batter was retired before George Widman reached on an error. The next two batters were retired, ending the inning.

SECOND INNING
Fertile began the inning with a lead-off single from Caleb Sather. The next three batters were retired, leaving the game at 1-0 Fertile.
The first Crookston batter was retired before a pitch hit Tanner Giese and Caden Ames drew a walk. The next two batters were retired, ending the threat.

THIRD INNING
Fertile was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
The first Crookston batter was retired before a pitch hit Widman. The next two batters were retired, ending the inning with score still 1-0 Fertile.

FOURTH INNING
Fertile began the inning with three straight singles from Preston Hanson, Kadyn Olson and Caleb Sather. The next batter grounded into a double play and the next batter was retired to end the threat.
Crookston began the inning with walks from Jackson Demarais and Giese before Ames singled to load the bases. The next batter was retired before Demarais scored on a passed ball. The next two Crookston batters were retired, ending the inning with Crookston tying up the game 1-1.

FIFTH INNING
Fertile began the inning with a Strem lead-off double. Steven Sather drew a walk before the next batter grounded into a double play. The next batter was retired.
Crookston’s first two batters were retired before Ashton Larson reached on an error. Demerais hit a double to score a run to give Crookston a 2-1 lead. The next batter was retired, ending the inning.

SIXTH INNING
Fertile was retired in 1-2-3 fashion.
The first Crookston batter was retired before Parker Kelly singled and Lucas Miller drew a walk. A pitch hit Blake Melsa to load the bases before the next two batters were retired, ending the threat.

SEVEN INNING
Fertile was retired in 1-2-3 fashion, including Tanner Giese making a diving catch for the final out. Crookston wins the game 2-1.

Crookston improves to 15-9 on the season and will play Sunday against a TBD opponent (playing Saturday) at 1:30 PM, a game you can hear on KROX. Fertile finishes their season 1-8 after having their first team in several years.
