The Crookston 12U B team finished second place at the West Region tournament this weekend in Monticello and advanced to the state tournament.
Crookston beat Brainerd/Little Falls in the first round 6-2. Crookston beat North Wright County Red 6-5 in the second round. In the third round (winner is champion), Alexandria beat Crookston 5-1. That had Crookston playing for second place against Brainerd/Little Falls. The winner would advance to state and the loser’s season would come to an end. Crookston came up with a tremendous defensive effort and beat Brainerd/Little Falls 2-0 to finish second and secure a trip to the state 12U B tournament.
Members of the team are Adley Vigness, Madi Abrams, Shyuh Burnette, Rilynn Aubol, Mya Bower, Kira Daniels, Katie Seaver, Peyton Demarais, Aubrey Bartrum, and Hailey Fritz. The team is coached by Derrick Seaver, Brett Tahran, Jake Abrams, and Pete Vigness.
The state tournament will be March 18, 19, and 20 in Virginia at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center. Crookston will play Moose Lake in the first round on Friday, March 18 at noon. They will either play Marshall or Apple Valley/Burnsville/Eastview on Saturday. The other four teams in the state tournament are Woodbury Black, Luverne, Alexandria, and Silver Bay.
