CROOKSTON PIRATES BOYS HOCKEY FALLS TO EAST GRAND FORKS 11-0

The Crookston Pirate Boys Hockey team dropped a Section 8A road game to East Grand Forks 11-0 at the East Grand Forks Civic Center.

FIRST PERIOD
In the first period, East Grand Forks got off to a good start as Hunter
Varnson shot the puck and was redirected by Cooper Hills to give the Green Wave a 1-0 lead. East Grand Forks would add another as Varnson, this time, scored off a pass from Hills to make it 2-0. About a minute later, Landon Jamieson made it 3-0 off an assist from Nicklas Corbett. The Green Wave went to the power play, but the Pirates were able to kill it off. Later in the period, Jace Panzer scored to make it a 4-0 Green Wave lead. East Grand Forks went to the power play again, but the Pirates killed it off once again to keep it at 4-0 as the teams headed to the second. 

SECOND PERIOD
To begin the period, Parker Kelly came across the crease to make a superb save and rob the Green Wave of their fifth goal of the game. Later in the period, Corbett was able to fire the puck into the net to make it 5-0. The Green Wave would strike again as Varnson scored his second of the game to add to the East Grand Forks lead. East Grand Forks would get a goal from Nolan Meulebroeck to make it 7-0. The Pirates headed to the power play as Greyson Ecker had a chance in front, but his shot hit the crossbar. Just seconds later, Grady Magner raced up the ice and scored the shorthanded goal to make it 8-0. East Grand Forks would hold their lead heading to the third.

THIRD PERIOD
In the third, the Pirates started on the power play, but the Green Wave killed it off. East Grand Forks would get a power play goal from Magner as he drilled one into the net to make it 9-0. Brady Chandler would get some action for the Pirates as he stepped into the crease to take over for Parker Kelly. Jordan Nowacki would get his first career varsity goal a little later for East Grand Forks to make it 10-0. About a minute later, Jace Fore scored for the Green Wave to make it 11-0. Chandler would come up with some nice saves as the period went on, but East Grand Forks would hold on to their 11-0 lead to get the victory. 

Crookston drops to 9-8-0 on the season and will take on #14 Hibbing/Chisolm tomorrow night on KROX and on the KROX YouTube stream. East Grand Forks improves to 13-6-1 on the year and will play Moorhead on Tuesday.
