Shoe Drive Fundraiser Raises $1,074 for Crookston Care and Share

The Shoe Drive Fundraiser for the Crookston Care and Share collected 2,775 pairs of shoes that were packaged and transported to Florida for distribution by Funds2Orgs.  Those shoes were shipped to several countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Ghana, and Haiti.  Small business owners purchase the shoes for pennies on the dollar and resell to local residents providing access to people in need. Shoes not sold are repurposed for insulation, stuffing for car seats or furniture. Funds2Orgs also sends any single shoes and excess scrap to Pakistan to be repurposed in volume.

The shoe donations provided a payment of $1,074 to Care and Share.  As an added benefit 2,686 pounds of shoes didn’t go to the local landfill.  The committee collecting shoes thanks the local sponsors for collecting donations and for advertising.  The sponsors were Hugo’s Family Marketplace, Hardware Hank, Care and Share, RiverView Healthcare Admissions, Villa St. Vincent and The Summit, Nimens-Espegard Apartments, Garden Valley Telephone in Erskine, Crookston Times, Valley Shopper, and KROX Radio.
